10 Celebrities Who Are Also Tech Investors
Celebrities using their millions to invest in tech startups and create their own Venture Capital firms has become increasingly common. Not only can it be a lucrative venture for them, but a startup’s worth can increase dramatically if a prominent celebrity has invested in them.
So who are the biggest players in the field of celebrity venture capital? Here are 10 celebrities who are also tech investors, and who they are investing in.
Serena Williams
Serena Williams founded Serena Ventures to invest in early-stage companies and young founders. There are over 50 companies in her portfolio, including some innovative future tech giants.
Befitting to her sporting career, Serena Ventures have invested in Tonal who are creating smart home gyms which include adaptable, multi-purpose equipment and a coaching screen all from one rig set up.
She has also invested in the software and services platform Mahmee, which connects new and soon-to-be mothers with physicians to execute care plans. An investment most probably inspired by her own experience of motherhood.
Will Smith
Will Smith is a frequent investor in new startups; he once famously invested 10K into a startup on the spot after hosting an elevator pitch competition on stage at a Tech Crunch Disrupt event in 2019. Smith is also the co-founder of Dreamers VC, which is a “venture capital fund bridging established Japanese corporate investors with early-stage US-based companies”.
Their tech investments include popular drop-in audio chat app Clubhouse and Spark Neuro who use neurotech and AI to revolutionise the media, medical and defence industries.

Amongst cannabis products and brands available in California, Snoop has invested in futuristic cannabis dispensary software Greenbits which uses data to simplify cannabis commerce and optimize retail performance.
Oprah Winfrey
There’s not much the American talk-show host, actress, producer and philanthropist hasn’t done in her lifetime, so it should not come as a surprise that she is one of the most prominent celebrity investors. Like Katy Perry, Winfrey also backed food company Apeel Sciences. Winfrey predominantly invests in food companies, with stakes and investments in Oalty, Weight Watchers and True Food Kitchen.

One of the most successful rappers in hip-hop, and the world, Nasir Jones (Better known as Nas), has built his own VC empire QueensBridge Venture Partners to accompany his music career.
